Do we need an independent investigation about who was directly responsible for blocking reform ?

That is reform on Freddie and Fannie. I'm no more knowledgeable as to who is directly responsible after listening to the sweet talking rhetoric from the presidential candidates. The world economy is at stake at this point, don't we want to know if either candidate was a co-conspirator in this mess, before we vote?
