Best Firebird/Trans Am year Performance-wise, and best year look opinion-wise :)?

The 98-02 with the LS1 engine had the best performance. You may be able to find a decent 98-00 Formula or even a Trans Am in your price range but there's no guaranty when buying a used vehicle of getting a good deal.
